Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cells are multipotent, undifferentiated cells which can able to
differentiate into cells of all three germ layers of the human body in in-vitro
conditions. They are called as adult stem cells or Mesenchymal stem cells (MSC)
or specific tissue derived stem cells. They are present all over the body
functioning as repair and regeneration of the particular organ. They can able
to differentiate into multiple tissues, immuno-modulate the immune system,
reduce inflammation through paracrine activities and fights apoptosis.
Paracrine effect is the major key role of stem cells; they travel to the
inflamed or injured area and start repair by sending protein signal molecules
and differentiate themselves to the cells of the local injured site. By these
functions they can able to repair, Regenerate and rejuvenate the body. Stem
cells are isolated from various sources viz., bone marrow, Adipose, umbilical
cord, peripheral blood, placenta, dental pulp, amniotic membrane etc. to name a
few. Although these stem cells are adult stem cells, each has its own
advantageous over other in cell based therapies. Doctors and stem cell scientist engaged in patient specific treatment to conditions which are incurable through conventional medications. Many scientific advancements are being accomplished using stem cell based therapies.
